Texas, Florida face off in opening game of Women's College World Series

AUSTIN (KXAN) — Texas will play in the first game of the 2025 Women’s College World Series.

The Longhorns, seeded No. 6, face third-seeded Florida at 11 a.m. Thursday at OGE Energy Field at Devon Park in Oklahoma City. The game will be on ESPN.

Texas and Florida met in the first series of the Southeastern Conference schedule in mid-March. The Longhorns won both games of a doubleheader March 15, 7-2 and 13-7, and the Gators thwarted a sweep with a 3-1 win March 17 in Gainesville.

Tennessee and Oklahoma play in the other day game Thursday at 1:30 p.m. Texas Tech and Ole Miss start the night session at 6 p.m. and Oregon and UCLA end the WCWS opening day at 8:30 p.m.

A win gives Texas a day off until its next game at 2 p.m. Saturday, and a loss drops them to the loser’s bracket into an elimination game at 6 p.m. Friday.
