‘The Burbs’ Gets Warm Welcome With Nearly 1B Minutes Viewed Since Launch As Reboot Lands Among Top Peacock Scripted Original Debuts


Audiences have given The Burbs a warm welcome on Peacock. The suburban horror comedy has generated nearly 1B viewing minutes since premiering on February 8.

The Keke Palmer-led comedy series ranked as Nielsen’s No. 2 streaming original during its first full week of availability from February 9 through 16, per NBCUniversal. Nielsen won’t release that report for another few weeks, at which time more context will be available to see how that stacks up against the entire streaming ecosystem.

NBCU first touted The Burbs with a small mention at the end of its Super Bowl LX ratings press release, because all eight episodes landed on the streamer post-game. It had the highest Day 1 for a Peacock original ever, and, in fact, the best launch day for any new streaming original series in 2026 based on minutes viewed, per Nielsen.

The Burbs‘ performance was likely strongly supported by sports driving audiences to the platform (in addition to Super Bowl LX, the Milan-Cortina Winter Olympics kicked off on February 6). February 8 marked Peacock’s best day ever in terms of both reach and hours streamed.

The Burbs is seemingly capitalizing on the momentum, becoming the top original scripted season ever on Peacock in terms of overall reach through the first nine days on the platform. On social, content related to The Burbs has generated 32M video views across all Peacock accounts.

Inspired by the 1989 horror-comedy film of the same name and set in present-day suburbia, The ‘Burbs follows a young couple who have reluctantly relocated to the husband’s childhood home. Their world is upended when a new neighbor moves in across the street, bringing old secrets of the cul-de-sac to light, and new deadly threats shatter the illusion of their quiet little neighborhood.

In addition to Palmer, who also serves as an executive producer with Seth MacFarlane and Brian Grazer, the Season 1 cast includes Jack Whitehall, Julia Duffy, Paula Pell, Mark Proksch (Tod), and Kapil Talwalkar, Kyrie McAlpin, and Justin Kirk.

The series produced by UCP, a division of Universal Studio Group, was created, written, and executive-produced by Celeste Hughey with Rachel Shukert also serving as a writer and executive producer. Star Keke Palmer also serves as an executive producer. Seth MacFarlane, Erica Huggins, and Aimee Carlson executive produce for Fuzzy Door, while Brian Grazer and Natalie Berkus are EPs for Imagine Entertainment. Nzingha Stewart directs and executive produces, while Dana Olsen is a co-executive producer.
