Tommy's Travel Forecast: Strong storms, heat dome


AUSTIN (KXAN) – High pressure will keep millions in the heat this week, with numerous rounds of strong to severe thunderstorms in the Plains.

Severe Weather

Scattered severe thunderstorms are expected to produce strong to severe thunderstorms across portions of Montana and the Dakotas on Sunday.

Additional severe weather is expected in the Plains for several days next week.

Large hail, damaging winds, and isolated tornadoes are possible for states like Nebraska, Wyoming, North Dakota, South Dakota, Kansas, Minnesota, Wisconsin, Missouri, and Oklahoma.

The Heat

A strong high pressure will keep temperatures above normal for portions of the Southwest, southern Plains, and the Deep South.

Extreme Heat Warnings have been issued for several states, including California, Nevada, and Arizona, with Heat Advisories in New Mexico and Texas. There is also a Heat Advisory issued in Alaska for several days.

Late Season Snow

Mountain snow is possible for portions of Washington, Idaho, Utah, Wyoming, and Montana next weekend. Winter weather alerts may be issued in the coming few days.
