Tubi Embraces Creators, Adding Episodic Videos From Six Established Personalities And Naming Vimeo Alum Rich Bloom To Key Exec Role
Tubi has launched a major creator initiative, adding 500 videos of episodic content and six established creators to its platform.
Along with the new programming, the Fox-owned free streamer has also appointed former Vimeo exec Rich Bloom to a key senior exec post. His title will be General Manager, Creator Programs & EVP, Business Development.
Tubi for Creators, as the initiative is known, marks a step-up of Tubiʼs investment in the creator economy as the streamer surges past 100 million monthly active viewers.
The new push complements existing efforts like the company’s ongoing fan-oriented studio, Stubios and its recently announced partnership with Kickstarter.
Tubi for Creators will see six established content creators make their work available on Tubi. Creators joining the program today include Mythical Entertainment, which is run by YouTube duo Rhett & Link, whose series Last Meals will now be available on Tubi; Canadian duo Dan and Riya, known for Beverly Valley High; comedian/rapper/entrepreneur FunnyMike; Jason Y. Lee’s Jubilee; and Kinigra Deo, whose comedy and drama series include Vampire Siblings and College Life.
“Weʼre listening to our viewers and recognize their desire for more stories that reflect culture and talent from the digital world,ˮ Tubi CEO Anjali Sud said. “As the home for free, premium entertainment, Tubi is uniquely poised to bring the creator economy to Hollywood and expand the pathways for creators to succeed in long-form storytelling. Rich has spent his career in video partnering and supporting creators, and Iʼm excited for him to accelerate our efforts to help more storytellers find their audience and bring more unique stories to our fans.”
At Vimeo, Bloom was GM of Vimeo OTT, where he helped creators run their own direct to consumer subscription streaming services. He also led global business development and previously ran Vimeo On Demandʼs marketplace. His 20-plus years of experience includes stints at Alibaba, Hearst and AOL.
Bloom said creators “function like full-fledged production studios creating longer-form, episodic content that is a perfect fit for broader distribution and Tubi is the right partner to level-up their content and grow their audience.ˮ
