US: Wall Street opens higher as investors focus on trade, key jobs data

[NEW YORK] US stock indexes opened higher on Thursday (Jun 5) after signs of tariff negotiations between the US and China, while investors looked ahead to a key jobs report to gauge the health of the labour market amid trade uncertainties.

The Dow Jones Industrial Average rose 60.2 points, or 0.14 per cent, at the open to 42,487.89.

The S&P 500 rose 14.9 points, or 0.25 per cent, to 5,985.67​, while the Nasdaq Composite rose 57.7 points, or 0.30 per cent, to 19,518.197. REUTERS
