Weekend Watch: Julius Caesar in the park, Margarita Fest, and a half marathon


AUSTIN (KXAN)—There is plenty to do this weekend as we move into Memorial Day Weekend (a longer weekend for many, or the start of summer vacation for others). Even with hot conditions, it shouldn’t stop you from getting out and about, and here are a few events you can enjoy with family or friends.

Julius Caesar at Zilker Hillside Theatre

It’s time to go back to the fall of Julius Caesar with Austin Shakespeare. Now running at Zilker Hillside Theatre, Julius Caesar is one of Shakespeare’s well-known political dramas. Running through Sunday, May 25, at Zilker. The show is free for all to attend.

One note Austin Shakespeare has been excited to bring up is the inclusion of women who will be playing most of the conspirators. For more information on the show times, be sure to visit their website at austinshakespeare.org.

2025 Austin Margarita Fest

Get your closest friend and book a rideshare as you indulge in Margaritas as the 2025 Austin Margarita Fest takes place this weekend. Taking place at the Round Rock Amp this Saturday, May 24, the event will kick off at noon with a wide variety of margaritas to enjoy. On top of that, there will be food trucks and a special performance by The Spazmatics from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. Feel free to bring your chair, and kids 12 and under are free. Hometown Half-Marathon 10k/5k

Get your running shoes ready as the Hometown Half-Marathon sprints into position this Sunday, May 25. A perfect way to kick off the unofficial start of summer and the Memorial Day Weekend, the Hometown Half-Marathon will be at the Southeast Metro Park in Del Valle. There will be a 5k/10k/half-marathon and a kids dash, along with many more. The entire family is invited to attend with plenty to do and see.
