Weekend Watch: Ride Day arrives & Pedal Around Austin

AUSTIN (KXAN) – Motorcycle enthusiasts are revved up for the latest Ride Day, and cyclists take a tour around Austin. This weekend, there is plenty to do outdoors, but if the heat is too much, then a Broadway favorite is making a stop at Bass Hall.

Weekend Forecast

The heat is expected to continue through the weekend, with triple digits remaining in place for Saturday. Even with partly cloudy conditions, we will continue to feel the heat. A very small chance of showers is possible over the weekend as well.

Ride Day at Total Rider

Moto riders are getting the need for speed as Total Rider hosts their Ride Day. There are two different free experiences, with the first for beginners. That one is called Moto Intro, but it is unfortunately sold out with a standby list open. This allows beginners a chance to take a 30-minute course and see what it’s like to get on a bike and see the basics. The second is called Skills Check and still has a few spots open to sign up. This course is for more experienced riders to challenge themselves on a specially designed course that will test their skills. The event takes place Saturday, May 17, at 4601 Pecan Brook Drive in Austin. For more information and to register, be sure to visit their website.

Moulin Rouge at Bass Hall

You’ll need the tissues for this one as Truth, Beauty, Freedom, and Love arrive in Austin with one of the biggest musicals making a stop at Bass Concert Hall. We all remember the movie with Ewan McGregor and Nicole Kidman. The story is about a young poet who falls in love with a courtesan in the Moulin Rouge. The cast and music are phenomenal, with music spanning decades. The show runs through May 25 with select shows with accessibility services for blind or low vision and with an ASL Interpreter. For ticket information, be sure to visit their website.
