XYZ Films Promotes Pip Ngo & Alex Williams

EXCLUSIVE: Indie film studio XYZ Films has promoted Pip Ngo to Executive Vice President of Sales and Acquisitions, promoting Alex Williams to Director of Acquisitions and Development.

Both will continue to be based in Los Angeles. Ngo will continue to acquire and shepherd filmmaker-driven packages while driving sales in English-speaking territories. In working alongside Ngo, Williams will specifically look to acquire and develop smart, commercial, genre-oriented projects. The news comes following XYZ’s hirings of Guy Danella as President of Film and Marie Garrett as SVP of Sales and Acquisitions.

Ngo joined XYZ as a Director of Sales and Acquisitions in 2017. Since then, he’s negotiated over a hundred distribution deals for XYZ’s robust sales and production slate, including titles like Skywalkers: A Love Story, Daniela Forever, and most recently, Redux Redux out of SXSW. He has also served as producer or executive producer on films like The Wolf of Snow Hollow, My Animal, Get Away, and History of Evil. He began his career in the independent film space after joining CAA’s Film Finance Group, before moving over to Sierra/Affinity and later Vimeo.

Born and raised in Texas, Williams joined XYZ as an intern and worked his way up to the development team in 2018. Most recently, he’s been a key executive on The Ritual, directed by David Midell and starring Al Pacino and Dan Stevens, and He Bled Neon, directed by Drew Kirsch and starring Joe Cole, Rita Ora, and Marshawn Lynch.

Founded in 2008 by Nate Bolotin, Nick Spicer, and Aram Tertzakian, XYZ Films’ upcoming titles include Banquet, starring Meghann Fahy and directed by Galder Gaztelu-Urrutia; the SXSW thriller Hallow Road, directed by Babak Anvari and starring Rosamund Pike and Matthew Rhys; The Trip starring Jason Segel, Samara Weaving, Juliette Lewis and Timothy Olyphant, which is currently in post-production; Havoc, directed by Gareth Evans and starring Tom Hardy and Forrest Whitaker, which recently premiered on Netflix; true-story exorcism thriller The Ritual, which releases wide this summer; and Something Beautiful, the new visual album from Miley Cyrus.
