‘Alice and Steve’ Trailer: Nicola Walker & Jemaine Clement Star
Hulu has dropped the first trailer for its upcoming series, Alice & Steve, starring Jemaine Clement and Nicola Walker, which can be found above. The comedy premieres on Monday, June 8.
“I hope you fall out of your window and then get pierced in the heart by your railing and that no one comes to your funeral.” So says Walker’s Alice to her (perhaps former) best friend Steve after she finds out he’s in a relationship with her much younger daughter.
Created and written by Sophie Goodhart, the six-part series follows Alice (Walker), who is devastated when her best friend Steve (Clement) starts dating her 26-year-old daughter Izzy (Yali Topol Margalith). She’s going to lose her best friend and her daughter in one fell swoop. Alice tries everything she can to end the relationship. Unfortunately for her, Steve’s more than ready for the attack, and what begins as a perfect friendship devolves into an all-out feud.
Per Hulu, Alice & Steve is a hilarious, messy, and complicated exploration of friendship, love, and revenge. The show is described as an anti-romantic comedy (a wrong-com) that asks the question: how far would you go for love – or revenge? Will Alice forgive Steve? Will Steve and Izzy make a relationship work? Amongst all the questions hanging in the balance, one thing is certain: their lives will never be the same.
The series also stars Joel Fry, Tyrese Eaton-Dyce, Marcia Warren, Eilidh Fisher and Ebony Aboagye.
Out of the gate, Alice & Steve will arrive already having won three awards at the Canneseries Awards: Best Series, Special Interpretation Award for ensemble cast, and Student Award.
