‘SNL UK’ Takes Aim At Shane Gillis: “Stupid F*cking C*nt”
While Saturday Night Live was off this weekend, its British counterpart pulled no punches in criticizing last week’s episode of the U.S. sketch comedy show.
On Satuday, SNL UK‘s “Weekend Update” co-host Ania Magliano ended the segment with a joke about Shane Gillis, following his complaint during last weekend’s SNL opening monologue that “women just dress like whores now” at the gym.
“A ride operator at Munich Oktoberfest was praised for giving out free cycling shorts to female riders. Wearing the gym shorts will protect women from being up-skirted, but it does make them vulnerable to something much worse,” said Magliano as a still of Gillis’ monologue appeared next to her.
With the audience already erupting in laughter, Magliano dug in her heels, poking fun at the United States’ strict broadcasting rules after Gillis accidentally dropped the F-bomb during a sketch.
Magliano continued, “Last week on SNL, comedian Shane Gillis also caused controversy by dropping the F-bomb. Oh Shane, you’re not allowed to say that, you stupid fucking cunt.”
Although Gillis quickly apologized for the expletive, he’s yet to respond to the ongoing backlash from fellow comedians and fans alike over his monologue, especially in the wake of an alleged gang rape by fraternity members known as the Cornell 7.
Gillis’ latest hosting gig on SNL comes after he hosted in 2024 and 2025, following his removal from the NBC sketch comedy‘s featured cast days after he was announced in 2019. The decision came in response to resurfaced videos of Gillis mocking Asian accents, in addition to using ethnic and gay slurs.
